When the schedule works, it works

The peace and relaxation that comes when Calan wakes up at 7 instead of earlier is amazing. His day just works out perfectly. He isn't over tired. His naps are the right length. He isn't clingy. He enjoys independent playtime. He smiles more. He giggles more. He babbles more. And I enjoy our day so much more. 

Yesterday Calan woke up at 6:10 a.m. and while he talks to himself in his crib peacefully till I come and get him usually between 6:30 and 6:45, his early wake up sets our whole day off by an hour. He is just not himself on days like that. You would think just shifting an hour would solve the issue, but truthfully, no matter what I do, the day just does not work out as nicely or as peacefully as when he wakes up at his normal wake time of 7 a.m. I would say that he wakes up early about twice a week. It can be rather frustrating, but there really isn't too much I can do about it. The early wake-ups are just one of those things you just have to roll with and we do. 

Today while he had an unsettling sleep that had him tossing and turning a few times during the night, he actually did not finally wake up till 7. He was up smiling. It is the perfect way for any mother to wake up. It truly does brighten your day. Right now, he is talking to himself or his stuff animal in his pack 'n play, Elle is sleeping, and I am writing this blog and enjoying my cup of coffee. There is truly peace over our household. 

The sun is out and I am feeling excited for the day. I know what to expect from Calan today because he is on his regular routine. It is going to be a good day.
