8 months old today

Wow … With every month that passes, Calan amazes me more and more. I know this cliché is said way too much, but seriously where does the time go? Every day he is becoming more of a little person instead of my little baby. As a mom, that really does make me sad and excited all at the same time.

At 8 months, we are so close to crawling. He is army crawling and barrel rolling everywhere he wants to go. Not sure when it is going to click, but it has to be soon. One of his favorite games is when I stack a few blocks and then he inch-worms toward them to knock them down. He gets the biggest grin on his face. I love it. He loves looking at himself in mirrors. It is hilarious when I put him in the car and he looks at his backseat mirror and just giggles and smiles at himself. He is pretty good at entertaining himself, but loves to have mom's attention too.

As for eating, we keep expanding our food selection. Anytime I introduce something new, it usually takes a few bites for him to like it. His favorite food is yams. He devours them and can't get enough. He eats four times a day with solids at 3 of those meals. He is good at eating Cheerios, but I haven't ventured into other finger foods. It is definitely a mom issue versus Calan. I think he could handle more, but I am nervous. He has the teeth for more that is for sure (7 teeth at 7 months, but I think we are finally on a teething break).

Calan is a decent sleeper. Usually 11-12 hours at night with about 3 hours during the day. While he is pretty much a very pleasant and happy baby, at 6 o'clock each night, he is ready for his solids, bottle and bed. The hour between 6 and 7 is the craziest part of my day with cooking dinner and trying to get him fed and to bed at the same time. Thank goodness for Cheerios. They are my savior each night. He is in bed at 7 and no later.

I love being able to stay at home and watch Calan grow. I could not imagine doing anything else. I can't wait to do more with him like going to the zoo and the park. Let's hope winter breaks soon!
