This cloth diapering mom is sad to say that we have resorted to disposables at night for Calan. After battling yeast rashes and leaks, I had to give in. I had to make the decision that disposables at night was what was best for my little man right now.
I was putting him in a bamboo fitted with tons of extra inserts. His diaper butt was HUGE. While he did not leak for the most part, he just was soaked and getting rashes and waking up in the middle of the night. My 12-hour sleeper was just not doing well in cloth at night.
I know that there are options out there and I hope to figure something out soon, but I haven't had the time or "passion" to figure it out. I'll be honest, it has been easier changing him into a disposable for night. I got tired trying to strip our diapers and trying different levels absorbency and still battling rash after rash after rash. Plus, he started to get urine burns. I couldn't deal with it anymore. So, we bought a box of disposables and I haven't looked back.
Calan has always been a heavy wetter and it has always been an issue when it comes to cloth diapering. I know that there are a ton of options out there, but for this busy mom, disposables were our best option for the time being.
And yes, I am still trying to convince myself that it is OK that I am using a disposable. I have crazy cloth diapering guilt. I know that is crazy, but it is true. However, Calan's butt is clear and I have to go with what works for now. So, to me, we just had to do it.
We had to do disposables at night with Eliza for the same reason. She was wet no matter what we did. She wouldn't sleep through the night in the cloth either. The guilt goes away, promise. You should be proud you put your "plan" aside to do what is best.
ReplyDeleteDon't feel guilty. Do what is right for you! Thanks for stopping by my blog...following you back :)

I wholeheartedly agree that you should do what works best (we've battled some more serious rashes at home these past months.) - I did hear from a friend that putting some tea tree oil into the wash kills the bacteria. I have yet to try it, and am not quite sure how much to put in, but I thought I'd share in case you hadn't heard of that idea yet. (But knowing us cloth diapering moms, you have probably tried it ALL!)
ReplyDeleteBest of luck!
I just tried tea tree oil last week and not sure how well it worked. I just boiled our pocket inserts hoping that helps. All I can hope is that he potty trains early and I can stop battling his diapers.
